This year, I had the great joy of doing art for the ridiculously talented author ancastar , who wrote Redemption for spn_j2_bigbang .

Redemption by ancastar 
Pairing: Jared/Jensen
Rating: NC-17
Summary:  It's the future. Space has been colonized, the wealthy fly to work rather than drive, and slavery is legal.
     Jared's family has been ripped apart by tragedy. The only way he can save the ones left is to offer himself up as a bondmate. The more he is willing to give, the higher the price he can command. And Jared is willing to give a lot.
     Jensen is wealthy and heartbroken after the wife he adored walked out on him. He isn't looking for love. All he wants is a relationship he can control.
     Buying a bondmate seems like the perfect solution.
Warnings: Slash, violence, there's a slight d/s vibe early in the story (but it's consensual), language.

Massive kudos to ancastar for writing such a brilliant, engaging, well-paced, plotty, porny, FANTASTIC story.  It was so easy to do art for something that I truly enjoyed reading.  Also big thanks for letting me be such a big part of the soundtrack selection and letting me have any influence whatsoever over any bit of your creation.  It's been an honor and a pleasure.  Thank you for being so amazing.

Thanks to my darling dancetomato for being my second pair of eyes on things and keeping it all in perspective for me.  Not to mention all the ridiculous love and support you give me in general.  Gracias to turnonmyheels for giving a visual once-over to my creations as well.

Gah, the one of shirt-removing Jared is particularly thud-worthy..*g* I had the pleasure of beta'ing this story and I remember how excited An was when your art pieces started coming in. You captured *everything* she was going for just perfectly. And you really got the edge of a Jensen in control. I love everything here - the cover, the soundtrack, the icons - it's all stunning. I really like what you've done here. The collages are a great, original idea, and your manips are really excellent - seamless and very natural, they look very realistic. The black and white palette and the filters work wonderfully, and "Jared's preliminary mock-ups" are very cool. I'd love to know what you used to create those, out of interest. Lovely work.

Love the range of art you have created for this story (from the moody atmospheric B&W, and grayscale manipulations to the gorgeous saturated colours of that space piece.)

I particularly like the banner where you've managed to create this outwardly simple (but perfectly right) "hey this is just a day in our life which just happens to be set in this whole futuristic world" image which takes the feel of your B&W works, and with the grey/green tint (sorry, I'm not an artist so I'm not able to correctly able to describe what you're doing that I love so much) you've simultaneously made it fit with the space piece too while giving it just a touch of sadness (a slightly haunted quality) and hope that I adore.

I am so looking forward to reading the accompanying story later today.

I adored the story, just totally was glued to it the minute I started reading.

Your graphics were a perfect fit for the story- I'll admit to staring contently at them. They were just so awesome, especially the more porny ones.

This is amazing work! I really ♥ the decision to go with black & white for everything but the digital mockup... very dramatic, and you really made me feel like I was seeing the characters in the story, and not just two familiar actors.
